Physical Education Syllabus – Freshmen & Seniors

Physical Education/Wellness

The mission of the Physical Education/Wellness program is to provide an opportunity to empower students with the skills to develop their physical fitness, and wellness in order to live a healthy and productive life.

Each individual has different abilities. Not everyone will be a champion. But everyone can find enjoyment as they continue to practice skill development and personal wellness.  It’s important for each student to find movement activities that they enjoy, as well as an appreciation for many different activities. Students are offered a wide variety of activities each semester at Wahlert Catholic High School.

Physical Education is a performance base course.  Therefore, all students are expected to dress and participate each class period.

The Physical Education program assists students in developing diverse skills.  They will take part in and learn about a variety of team, individual, and rhythmic activities.  Increasingly, wellness is emphasized, and students are encouraged to understand the impact of physical activity and exercise on their health.  Students will understand and build a wellness plan for themselves.  Throughout the four years, students will expand their ability to resist and endure fatigue, understand the effect of exercise, develop socially acceptable conduct for sporting activities, and enjoy participating in life-long physical activities.

Physical Education will benefit students in four ways:

**      Each student will gain the realization of the importance of wellness through physical activity.

**      Each student will develop socially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through activities.

**      Each student will have adequate knowledge to participate in a variety of activities.

**      Each student will perform, compete, and develop a strong self-image through participation in activities.
