Week of Aug. 25, 2014

Hello all! Sorry I am late putting up this post. I blame the heat!

Here are some of the week’s happenings:

Monday: Yes, it was hot! Your children were real troopers these past few hot days

We started out class novel called Loser. A great book for the beginning of the year on how do we treat everyone in the classroom. Usually a few chapters will be assigned every night. The chapters are short, so your child will probably finish the assigned reading in school.

We are also working on writing a biography to help prepare for our next religion project. Rough drafts will be due on Wednesday.

Art class was held today.

Tuesday: We will take the Reading MAP test today. Our class has Mass this week so we will be going to church to practice.

Guidance class with Mrs. Jasper will take place in the morning too. Gym class is in the PM. Let’s remember the change of clothes!

Wednesday: Mass will be held this morning along with Music class. We are really moving into a good routine of the schedule too.

Thursday: We have a regular schedule today with Music in the morning.  We begin our study on saints and sharing our biographies today.

Friday: TGIF Today is a dress down day. Please check the newsletters for what can or cannot be worn. Mrs. Malcolm will be in to teach us how to use the new Chrome books. Fifth graders will have access to Chrome book, iPads and our other PC computers. The students will also receive the directions for the religion project. (You can also find them over to the right of this page.) Be sure to watch for the different due dates as we progress with this work. Gym class today.

In the afternoon, Mr. Tebbe from MCMS will be coming to speak with the students about 5th grade band. He will let students try different instruments and send home information about band and a parent meeting for band coming up in the near future.

Enjoy the long weekend!
