Social Studies

The students are continuing to study the Midwest region. They had their first test on the geography and climate of the Midwest and are now learning about the history and economy in the Midwest. Topics we are discussing are: The Lakota Native Americans, pioneer life, and the Model T, which was the first successfully invented vehicle powered by gasoline. Next week students will begin their unit project. Students will choose a historical person from the Midwest to write about and give a short speech to the class. They will also be asked to dress up like that person or include a prop in their speech. They are excited to get started.
