Our theme this week is To Market, To Market. We will also be focusing on the letter Vv and working on isolating the beginning sound in words. We will be identifying words that begin with Vv and making a list of Vv words. We will also be finding numbers in the environment and exploring and identifying coins. Our religion theme this week is More About the Bible. We will be reading some of our favorite stories from the Bible and making our own journal pages about each story.

On Thursday, February 17th Loras College held a Mini-Marathon at St. Joe’s. The children raised money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The children were able to dance, play games, color and get tattoos. A good time was had by all!
Monday, February 21st: No preschool today…In-service day for teachers!
Friday is pajama day so please help your child remember to wear his/her favorite pajamas on this day! We will also be having story time with a guest reader. Barb Roling, the principal from St. Columbkille’s, will be joining us for a pajama-themed story. This week will be lots of fun!
On Thursday, we will be making Catholic Schools Week bookmarks and thank you cards to our parents for sending us to a Catholic School.
On Wednesday, we will be having our monthly obstacle course in the gym followed by an American-themed Ice Cream Social in the lunchroom.
On Tuesday, the children will be making cards to send to our troops to show our love and support for all that they do for us. We will also be touring the stained glass windows at church with Father Mark Ressler and creating stained glass windows back in our classroom.
We have a lot of fun activities planned for Catholic Schools Week! On Monday, please remember to dress your child in red, white and blue. We will also be going to church for a sing-a-long with Dick Beaves, the music coordinator for St. Joseph the Worker parish. Be sure to stop in our hallway to see the flag that we created with your child’s handprints and our “A+ Families” sheets that are hanging by our classroom.
On Monday, we will be starting our “Construction Zone” theme. Our first week is titled “I Can Build” and we will be reading some stories such as Alphabet Under Construction and The Elves and the Shoemaker. We will be talking about how to use tools and materials properly and safely and discussing the different ways that people work. We will also be talking about the parts of a book, recognizing numerals through ten and focusing on the letter Bb. Our religion theme is God Gives Us Our Feelings. We will be discussing how God made us with our feelings and always knows how we feel. We will be talking about things that make us happy and sad and reading the story “My Many Colored Days” by Dr. Seuss.
