A Thanksgiving Message of Gratitude

To Holy Family Band Parents:

The Thanksgiving season serves as a strong reminder that we have much to be thankful for in our music program:

*   From a national perspective, we must be thankful that the arts are written into federal law as part of the core curriculum for every school in Goals 2000: Education America Act – 1994.

*   From a community vantage point, we must be thankful for local leaders who are solid supporters of music in our schools; they realize music education offers heightened performance in the all aspects of life and they are outspoken advocates of music education.

*   Sincere thanks are extended to our administrators. We continue to enjoy an ongoing open dialogue focusing on the role of music as part of a complete curriculum offering.

*   From a personal standpoint, THANK YOU, PARENTS! Your keen interest, loyal support and active participation are the essential elements of our successful past, our exciting present and our promising future.

*   Collectively, we must extend thanks to the young men and women who spend countless hours in the learning, rehearsing, and performing of music. It is a privilege and an honor to work with the finest students in the Holy Family system. These music makers of today are preparing to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Yes, music does make the difference, and we are thankful your student has chosen to join his/her fellow artist-musicians as part of our musical family. The disciplines learned in music classes reinforce a standard of excellence that is required for success in all of life.

As we approach the halfway point of our academic year, I extend a sincere vote of thanks to everyone who has made it possible for our music program to thrive and prosper. Your investment of time, effort and energy is the key to our success.

With gratitude,

Mr. Tebbe

In speaking of his renowned Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein said, “It occurred to me by intuition that music was the driving force behind that intuition and my discovery was the result of my musical perception.”

Importance of Parental Support

To Holy Family Band Parents:

Schedules and classes are now in place and we are focused on a solid curriculum certain to make a difference in the life of every student in our music program. I would like to share some ways that you can help support our program.

Encouraging Parent. Competence is the result of dedicated “time on task”. Music learning, music performance, and music appreciation are the outcomes of study, practice, and guided listening. With limited rehearsal time, it is imperative that students invest extra time in nurturing their talents and improving their skills. Please encourage a positive practice schedule. Remember that practice time must be framed as a benefit and not as a disciplinary penalty.

Loyal, Appreciative Audience. The best audience is always parents. You are faced with a full agenda in your personal and professional life, and you are challenged to adjust your schedule to accommodate every school function. However, your presence at our performances will mean more to your student than words can describe. Music is a family affair. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate your child’s talent.

Parent Support Group Member. There are many ways to aid and participate in our parent support organization. Please join with other parents who realize the far-reaching potential of the arts and take advantage of the synergy created by sharing a common educational philosophy. This organization ensures the future of quality music education for your student and his/her fellow artists.  We will have more information coming soon about parent meetings throughout the year.  Thank you in advance for your support of this group.

The music program at Holy Family Catholic Schools continues to flourish because of a substantive curriculum, a well-informed and supportive administration, and exemplary parental support. You make a difference!

I look forward to visiting with you in the near future.

In the interest of your child,
Mr. Tebbe

Welcome Back To Band!

To the Holy Family Band Parents and Students:

The new school year is launched and we are experiencing the joy of making music. Thank you for your support, and particularly for encouraging you students to continue their study of music. This investment of time, effort and energy will produce lifelong dividends.

Throughout the year you will be receiving communications from our Band Department concerning upcoming concerts and other pertinent information. I also will be sending you compelling research data about the importance of music study in the development of your child. The world of education is in a constant evolution and you, as a responsible and concerned parent, must be apprised of the latest information gleaned from research studies. This information will aid you in helping your student make wise choices that are certain to benefit their future.

Evidence continues to focus on the arts (music) as a vital component in the positive growth of every child. For years we have pointed to the music students as those who have demonstrated a special talent. However, based on extended studies we now know it is the very process of learning music that develops the artistic mind and brings forth the creative potential in all young people. For this reason, continued membership in our musical family is strongly encouraged.

It is a privilege to have your student as a valued musician in our organization. Thank you for your support of music education at Mazzuchelli Catholic Middle School, and Holy Family Elementary Schools. You play an important role in everything we do. Welcome to our new school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Jacob Tebbe

Greetings all!

Welcome back to what I am sure will be another great year in band! We will be doing the Adventureland Festival of Bands in May this year.  We have also added a tour of the Holy Family elementary schools this year for MazzJazz and 7/8 Band.  I am very excited to get things going this year! Below you will find a list of important dates for the year.  Please look them over and mark them in your calendar.  You will notice that each grade is assigned a certain concert that they will be responsible for cleaning up.  I did this for ease of clean up.  Also, I am pleased to announce that band is now on Power School! This will help me with my communication for grades and other items.  Let’s make this year a great one like I know we can!
