Child Development Notes Introductory Material

We have completed our introductory studies of family structure and methodology of developmental studies.  If a student wishes to obtain these notes for further study, please ask me and I will be happy to print them for you.
We will begin our study of prenatal development. This unit will include normal development, as well as a look at birth anomalies.  A great introduction into this topic is to view “Life’s Greatest Miracle” online at PBS.org.

AP Psychology

We are now studying Emotions and Motivation.  Time to read Chapter 8 in our textbook.  Supplemental material will be taken from the PBS series, “This Emotional Life.” We will continue to have quizzes on vocabulary throughout this chapter.

Culinary Art I Final HOMEWORK (Kitchen design assignment)

Your task is to design (on paper) a kitchen you would like to work in.

Include scale drawings of your dream kitchen, including all features, and include what kinds of appliances and other features, including color scheme

Include costs of your range/cooktop/ovens, refrigerator, dishwasher and the five small appliances you consider to be most essential nFinally, be able to defend your design and equipment choices (think work triangle, lifestyle, etc.)

Hint: use Sunday ads from home improvement stores to find out information about cabinet and appliance styles and prices.  Use online design sites to help you decide what to include.  And, remember, this is YOUR work, not group work!

Psychology

We are finishing up our semester with a look at psychological disorders.  Students will be researching using the DSM.  We will also have a test on these disorders, as well as a semester final.

Culinary Arts I

We are heading toward our practical final, just finishing up an exploration of food customs, meal planning, food supply, and kitchen design.  Our final is practical–students plan and prepare an entire meal for their self-selected lab group.
