Sociology Final Exam Study GuideMay2012
We have completed our unit on Baking, and will be making pasta this week. Upcoming topics of study and labs will include fruits and vegetables, dairy and eggs, meats and combination foods. Notes for the baking unit are below, as are the notes for the grains unit, as are notes from our discussion on new school lunch guidelines. Notes for Fruits and Vegetables are likewise added. Notes for remaining chapters are posted, as well as for animal protein foods and for combination foods. Final lab is with self-selected groups and will be the same day for all students.

We have just completed a survey of Human Psychological Development over the lifespan. We are currently embarking on a study of the elements and theories about Personality. Notes for both are posted.
We are also studying Testing in psychology. These note pages are also added.
We are now studying Emotions and Motivation. Time to read Chapter 8 in our textbook. Supplemental material will be taken from the PBS series, “This Emotional Life.” We will continue to have quizzes on vocabulary throughout this chapter.
Your task is to design (on paper) a kitchen you would like to work in.
Include scale drawings of your dream kitchen, including all features, and include what kinds of appliances and other features, including color scheme
Include costs of your range/cooktop/ovens, refrigerator, dishwasher and the five small appliances you consider to be most essential nFinally, be able to defend your design and equipment choices (think work triangle, lifestyle, etc.)
Hint: use Sunday ads from home improvement stores to find out information about cabinet and appliance styles and prices. Use online design sites to help you decide what to include. And, remember, this is YOUR work, not group work!
We are finishing up our semester with a look at psychological disorders. Students will be researching using the DSM. We will also have a test on these disorders, as well as a semester final.
We are heading toward our practical final, just finishing up an exploration of food customs,meal planning, food supply, and kitchen design. Our final is practical–students plan and prepare an entire meal for their self-selected lab group.
